Multi-Generational Photographer
Multi-generational photography sessions are a great way to capture the entire family in one photo. The session is normally about 30 minutes long and captures a large portion of a family tree.
What are multi-generational photos?
It's a photo taken with multiple levels of the family tree, from the oldest Patriarch to the youngest child in the family.
How do you organize a multi-generational photo session?
Well, the best way to go about doing a multi-family, or generational photo session is by first picking a date. This can be tricky depending on where everyone in the family lives. The best thing to do is to plan the photo around a holiday. Sometimes Thanksgiving or Christmas. If that doesn't work for your family, you can plan a specific day to have a reunion and plan on capturing the family then.
What should everyone wear to the photo session?
Having multiple families it will be a bit of a challenge to get everyone on the same page for what to wear. Some of the best generational photos have each main family where one color and another family where another. That way when looking at the photo, you can discern who goes with who by looking at the photo.
What is the best way to display a multi-generational photo?
That depends on the space you have. In some situations, the oldest member of the family gets a big portrait printed and hangs it above the family fireplace. Others just receive a smaller copy to frame.
