Relaxed headshots are the look young executives want to appear friendly and an expert in their field. No more stuffy images! Companies don't want the cropped bar photos and selfies. It is worth spending the money on professional headshots. One of the main reasons people contact me for a new headshot is for a Microsoft Teams profile photo, LinkedIn, and an updated headshot for the company website.
I strive to capture your headshot in an environment that is native to where you work, or where you want to work. Located North of Boston, I cover all of Massachusetts for headshot Photography. My photos can be used on Facebook, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and for marketing and branding photos. I also assist clients in aligning their LinkedIn profile pictures with the professional image they wish to present to prospective employers while job searching.
What makes me different? I allow for in-studio review of the images right after we take them. I allow for phone-a-friend screen sharing, where you can ask your best friend or family member to look at your favorite selections live and give feedback
on what they think is your best image! It's so helpful if you are not someone who can be critical of what a great photo of you really is! If someone can't come and you want their opinion, but you really want their opinion, I will send them a Zoom link that allows them to share my screen. It's one of the best features of my studio, as we are always our own worst critics.
Top 10 reasons to have a professional headshot done:
1. Your headshot will be well-lit
2. You will look professional
3. You will look trustworthy
4. You will look more intelligent
5. All photos are professionally retouched
6. You will look younger (great lighting works wonders)
7. Clean and simple classic backgrounds
8. Great angles that will make your double chin vanish!
9. Free retakes if you don't love them (who doesn't love a do-over!)
10. More opportunities! Which might equal more money, depending on the field you are in.
A 2019 survey done by LinkedIn, seen here, shows exactly the difference between a selfie and a professional headshot. There is also a great read here on professional headshots.
I love working with people and companies in and around Massachusetts, including New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont, and have worked for all sorts of companies. I have even traveled to Cape Cod and the Islands to achieve that perfect portrait of you!
I can come to your office and set up a small studio for backdrop photos, we can utilize the outside your building and capture lifestyle portraits. Whatever genre your brand needs, I can bring it to life. If you are stumped on what you need, reach out. I will help you curate a plan for your company. As a creative director, I see things differently. Pantone color matching is imprtant and as a professional I can match any headshot background color to your logo. It is easy enough to keep your brand consistent.
After a sesion I am able to offer a branding sheet that shows the set up of the photography session the color backdrop used, and the lighting setup. Companies love being able to send to another photographer to have consistent photos across the company.
What tips do you recommend for a great headshot?
First, stay away from AI-generated headshots! Why? AI is not the way to authentically show who you or your employees are. Companies should steer their employees away from this trend, and I'll explain more in a bit.
Second, hair and make-up!
Rules for headshot clothing:
1. Solid colors are best, no stripes. That also means pinstripes. (The tiny pinstripes create a strange pattern/look in the camera; it is not pleasant.) Stick with solids!
2. Please iron your clothes. I know I know... I dislike the iron too.
3. Make sure your clothes fit. Shirts that are too tight or too loose will look just that! If you are not comfortable, the shirt is the wrong fit. Go to the store and buy a new shirt! You've earned it!
4. Be comfortable!
5. Pick colors that complement you and the background. For a white backdrop, I strongly suggest a BRIGHT pop of color. If you have a white shirt on a white backdrop, people tend to look washed out.
6. Bring a few outfits! If something isn't working, you will have options! I have a hook and a changing area. I have found that having multiple clothing options increases the likelihood that you will find photos you love. If you don't love how you look in one outfit, you have the second outfit!
