Now that the wedding season is over, what do you do with all your hundreds of wedding photos you have? You can put them in an album and look at the once a year. You can put them in 5×7 frames and place them around the room or you can get really creative.
Personally I love big prints. Recently while at a friends house I noticed they had this beautiful fire place with a 11×14 painting of a clown and 2 photos of the family in small little 4×6 frames. To me, that’s tragic. Family photos and couple photos should become the centerpiece for the room. A focal point for everyone to look at .
A client of mine had a Year in the life session of her son. You all might remember JJ if you are an avid blog reader. She ordered a 20×30 photo of his last session and then added 8×10 prints all around the outside of the big print. I call this The Collection.
I always try to encourage my clients to use big prints in their house. Most people qualify an 8×10 as BIG. an 8×10 on a huge wall is normally very dwarfed and doesn’t look right. Take for instance the following photos.
This is a wall that is about 13 feet wall. We hung a mirror that was 3.5 feet wide and on each side we hung 2 16×20 prints. These frames are actually making the print 25 incheswide x32 inches high on the wall. I am a very balanced person and everything with me has to be very even
This wall is a smaller wall and we used the ottoman to act like a chair. This print is a 30×40.
I also suggest an infusion of color into the theme of the room. If you paint your child’s bedroom a color, stick with that theme, The following photos show a great use of color in the framing of the photo.
I will also say, that even with old photos, you can be inspired to do great things with the smaller photos. This is the wall in my house. The names on the wall are Family names (I traced by whole family tree). I think this came out nice! The words are from Wall Words. They are removable.
