I never meet Erin in person before shooting her wedding. They heard about me from the Codman Estate where their wedding was being held. Erin and I bounded over our love of Animals. She’s a small animal vet and we ended up talking about dogs more than actual wedding details. That’s when you know your a good fit! Erin and Walter did all their wedding planning from afar and so they did a lot of planning on the internet and phone. Not being able to meet her didn’t stop us from having a seemless wedding day and amazing photos.
The night before the wedding they had their rehearsal dinner at Waxxy O’Connors in Lexington MA. Fitting because with a last name like McGowan this very irish establishment fit them well! They are known for their very Irish Charm and cuisine. When I asked Erin how she and Walter meet, she told me they met at Colby College in Waterville ME during their undergrad years. Living in Maine, there are just a few mountains to hike, and it was fitting that they got engaged while hiking with their dog Barney on the Welch-Dickey Trail (not an easy hike) in 2012. Erin went on to say “It was absolutely down pouring and it was too slippery for us to make it to the summit. When we were about half way down Walter and Barney suddenly disappeared and as I turned a corner they were both kneeling (well Barney was lying down) and my engagement ring was on Barney’s collar. It was perfect.”
When I asked Erin why she chose the Codman Estate (one my of my favorite venues) she said “We chose the Codman Estate because we loved the grounds, it was close
to a “farm like’ venue we wanted, and we fell in love with the garden where our ceremony was held.”
Below are some of my favorite photos from the day! Codman Estate is a great venue for weddings because it’s a low cost rental fee, with lots of areas for photos and a beautiful ceremony site!
